Most of the students who sat for 2015/2015 WAEC examination are very eager to see their waec result. That is the normal thing- anxiety.

But there are time for everything. Right now, the WAEC examination paper are being marked throughout the country, and hopefully, by August or latest September, the WAEC result should be out.

There are basic things you need to know about WAEC result and  how to get WAEC result checker to check your WAEC result.

WAEC Result checking Requirements

1. You need your WAEC centre number Plus your sit number to check your result.
2. You need a WAEC result checker to have access to your WAEC result
3. Internet connection is also needed

Once you have all these you can get your result from anywhere as long as there is internet connection

How do You get the Waec result Checker?

It has been the tradition of WAEC to make WAEC checker card available for all candidates who register for both internal and external WAEC.

But, there is a change in that policy as WAEC did not make the result checker available to those candidates who registered for (May/June). Jamb website is the online place where you can get all information you need about Jamb body.
Jamb is the examination body that is responsible for the conduct of entrance examinations into Nigerian Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges of Education.

The body was established in  1989 During General Olusegun Obasanjo Military government and was mandated to see to the conduct of entrance examination in any of the Nigeria Higher institution.

Jamb has some website where various activities can be carry out. Here I will list some of these functions and their websites or links.

The service website is a jamb website where most of the the online registrations are done. These services are:
  • Jamb/Utme Registration Website: The jamb website where university candidates register for admission into university, polytechnic and college of education. 
  • Direct Entry Registration Website: This jamb website is used by candidates who is seeking admission into university through direct entry. It is meant to be used by ND/NCE or Diploma degree holder to pursuit higher qualification.
  • Regularization: This is used by candidates to regularized their regulation number.

How to Use WAEC Result Checker to Check Your Result

Waec Result checker is an e-facility card with Personal Identification Number (PIN) and Serial Number required to check May/June or Nov/Dec Result. This WAEC result checker can be obtained from WAEC offices, Banks or from WEAC Dealers.




Steps on How to Check Your Result

Step 1: Short Messaging Service (SMS)
  • Send a text message to this short-code 32327 using the format bellow:
WAEC*Your Exams number*Card PIN*Exam Year
Eg: WAEC*42777272078*765342567890*2014
  • Then send to 32327
  • Wait for a while for returning message that contains your result.
Step 2: Checking through WEAC Result Checking Site




















  • Type in your registration number in the field labelled Examination Number
  • Select Examination Year. Be very sure of the year because if you select a wrong year, it will display result for the candidate with the same sit number as yours and you will not be able to use the PIN to check your result again.
  • Enter WAEC result checker PIN and Serial number as provided in the appropriate field.
  • Click Submit and your result will be displayed.

 WAEC Result checker may be got from the WAEC National Office or any of its zonal and branch offices across Nigeria.
You can also purchase it from any of the branch offices of Fountain Trust Bank Plc across Nigeria. From time to time it may become available at any other outlets so designated by WAEC.

History of West African Examinations Council

West African Examinations Council popularly called WAEC is an examination body that is responsible for the conduct of Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination in Nigeria and other member West Africa countries.

This examination body was established was established in 1952 after the Governments of Ghana (then Gold Coast), Nigeria, Sierra Leone and The Gambia enacted the West African Examinations Council Ordinances in 1951.
Among the aims and objectives of the body are to:
  • Assist in the development of sound education
  • Ensure that educational standards are maintained
  • Give the people of West Africa a vision of the great potentials which lie beyond examinations.
 In the word of the former HNO of WAEC. dr Adeyegbe:

"the council has developed a team of well-trained and highly motivated staff, and has administered Examinations that are valid and relevant to the educational aspirations of member countries".

The Establishment of the Council

The legislative assemblies of Nigeria, Ghana, Sierra Leone, and the Gambia passed an ordinance (West African Examinations Council Ordinance NO. 40) approving the West African Examination Council in Dec 1951.

Among other things they agreed on was the coordination of exams, and issuing of certificates to students in individual countries by the West African Examination Council.

After the success formation of the council, the council called a first meeting in Accra, Ghana on March 1953. In the meeting, the registrar briefed everybody about the progress of the council. In that same meeting, five committees were formed to assist the council. These committees are:
  • Administrative and Finance Committee, 
  • School Examinations Committee, 
  • Public Service Examinations Committee, 
  • The Professional, 
  • Technical and Commercial Examinations Committee
